As your family needs
When home, school, and a child’s individual needs overlap, it can be difficult for parents to know where to begin.
Maybe your child is struggling at school, you’ve been asked to attend a meeting, or you’re trying to understand what support might be available. Sometimes you know something isn’t working, but you’re not sure what questions to ask or what the next step should be.
Drawing on professional experience in school settings and child and adolescent mental health, Storyhouse helps families better understand school-related concerns, explore resources, and prepare for conversations about their child’s needs.

If you’re concerned about your child’s school experience, unsure what support may be available, or simply need help figuring out what questions to ask, a consultation may be helpful. You don’t have to wait until there’s a major problem to reach out.
Our school advocacy services primarily focus on helping parents prepare for and navigate school-related conversations. If additional support is needed after an initial consultation, we can discuss what options may be appropriate for your family’s situation.
Yes. When relevant, we can review information you provide to help you better understand concerns, identify questions, and consider possible next steps. We do not provide independent educational evaluations or formal interpretations outside our professional scope.
When appropriate and with the necessary permissions and releases, we may collaborate with school professionals to support a child’s needs. The nature of that communication will depend on the situation and the services being provided.
We can help parents prepare for school-related conversations, organize their concerns, and consider questions about available supports, including IEP or Section 504 processes. We do not provide legal representation or guarantee eligibility, services, accommodations, or particular school decisions.

School Advocacy & Support focuses on helping families navigate school-related processes, understand available resources, and prepare for conversations with school staff. Parent Guidance & Support is connected to a child’s ongoing counseling at Storyhouse and focuses on helping parents understand and respond to their child’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. If you’re unsure which service is appropriate, we’ll talk through what you’re looking for and help determine the best fit before scheduling.
We can help families explore school-related concerns in both public and private school settings. The processes and resources available may differ depending on the school.
Prior to your session, you will be asked to upload evaluations and/or relevant documents to the secure client portal. You are encouraged to bring whatever information you feel would be helpful, such as uploaded document, school communications, or a list of questions and concerns to the first meeting. If you’re not sure what to bring, that’s okay. We can start with a conversation.
School Advocacy & Support consultations are $150 per 50-minute session. The number of sessions depends on your family’s needs. Some concerns may be addressed in one meeting, while others may benefit from additional support.
